Lifeslurper returns!

This surely must be the greatest news to ever hit the blogosphere!

This blog started its short-lived first life stuck together with a used band-aid, a rusty paperclip and Lifeslurper’s best intentions. Clearly this was not enough. Fittingly it all fell apart within a matter of days.

Weeks on, the Lifeslurper blog is back!

It has taken much angst, hair-pulling and bewilderment. Many prayers have been said, numerous swear words (like “flipperty heck!”) uttered, and countless shout-outs for assistance set free out across cyberspace.

These things called PHP and FTP were not designed for mere mortals. Some support forums need renaming as Forums of Despair. These frightening things strip the unprepared of all hope. Innocent souls venture forth with their feeble questions to only be met with criticisms about not posting in precisely the exact correct location of a massive ‘help’ section with more entries (sub entries, sub sub entries) than every edition ever published of the Encyclopedia Brittanica combined. Lifeslurper spent days lost down a few dark and dingey back alleys of one notorious ‘support’ forum. Lifeslurper’s only food used as crumbs to retrace her footsteps back out of the darkness. There was repeated need for fruitless subsequent dives back into the murky depths.

Somewhere amidst the darkness there came a light….the gorgeous people at Dreamhost – the single greatest Web hosting company to ever gallop down this ole information super highway. Who’d ever have guessed that some ‘puter boffins at help desks could speak plainly of this usually unspeakable stuff? That they also had a sense of humour? No, really! Plus endless levels of patience, a certain necessity in dealing with Lifeslurper. Sure, it only took this shrinking violet a week or two to summon up the courage to make contact…another frustrating lesson learnt and here we are again!

So we are nearing the end of the Burnley Tunnel and can see the light of the eastern suburbs out the other side. With a bit more coaxing, perhaps Lifeslurper’s custom design will re-appear.

So onward and upward for Lifeslurper Mark II – now held together by the elastic off my old practice tennis ball set and powered by my inconsistent pedalling on the exercise bike. Here’s hoping we last a little longer this time!
