Lifeslurper resides in a big brown land called Auuustralia. Her early years remain a mystery cloaked in a veil of depression. Age 42 Lifeslurper meets the vague but gorgeous Wobbles. “What took him so long to arrive?” She asks. They make their way together in the world just fine, but are not fine to make a baby – not without some outside help. Enter ART and 2008 the year of 4 IVF cycles & one lousy big fat negative. Lifeslurper is now 46 years old! Time for a baby is running out fast, so too is her sanity. Now it's 2010 - Lifeslurper and Wobbles are getting serious about this baby making business. Donor Egg Cycles are the way of the future and the future is NOW!

Requiem for a Cycle

Before burying Cycle 4 deep in the mental IVF waste dump I am trying to create, I thought I should duly document this antagonist cycle which we hoped would be the answer for us:

Day 3 – Clomid (Clomiphene) 50mg & Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2

Day 5 – Clomid (Clomiphene) 50mg & Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2

Day 6 – Clomid (Clomiphene) 50mg & Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml

Day 7 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml

Day 8 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml – Ultrasound & Blood test

Day 9 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml

Day 10 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml

Day 11 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml

Day 12 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml – Ultrasound & Blood test

Day 13 – Puregon (Follitropin beta) 225 IU x 2 & Orgalutran 0.5 ml

  • It is so hard to go through one loss after another, to keep packing away the tangible reminders of all that you went through just to get to a place that feels even emptier than before. I know you’ll find the strength to get through this, but I also know that this is easier said than done.

Take care, watch lots of TV and eat handfuls of chocolate (if that’s your thing). After all that you’ve done, you deserve a break and some indulgence.

  • I’m so sorry for you. If I was there I’d give you a big hug. If I had worthwhile embryos I’d give you some of mine. I’d cook you dinner and make you sleep in until lunchtime.

    So sorry.

  • Wow, you’ve taken plenty of fertility meds. That must be $6K worth of meds there. Do you pay for your meds and procedures there in Au?

I ask because I am on the verge of starting our first IVF and I dread having to think about how much we are going to spend because we are paying for all of it. And that is just going to be our first! (I hope it just takes 1…)

And you just had your 4th, so I think I can imagine how much $$$ that is if you are paying it all by yourself.
