Lifeslurper resides in a big brown land called Auuustralia. Her early years remain a mystery cloaked in a veil of depression.

Age 42 Lifeslurper meets the vague but gorgeous Wobbles. “What took him so long to arrive?” She asks.

They make their way together in the world just fine, but are not fine to make a baby – not without some outside help. Enter ART and 2008 the year of 4 IVF cycles & one lousy big fat negative.

Lifeslurper is now 47 years old! Time for a baby is running out fast, so too is her sanity. Now it's 2011 - Lifeslurper & Wobbles have moved into top baby making gear. Donor Egg Cycles are the way to go, after a long pause to take stock after a glorious donor egg BFP & the subsequent loss. This year saw 2 cancelled FET cycles, & and menopause causing delays.

Where to from here? After 10 cycles Lifeslurper & Wobbles now await their WobblyBub who is due in May 2012 - actually make that...um....*sigh*...what's the point?

The Clouds of Tomorrow

The ability to make lines appear on sticks with your own pee is quite a heady experience. Ask any infertile who has longed to have that particular skill. We have all desired at some stage the chance to see that second line appear.

Less than a week ago, I entered my second term of Magic Stick Powers. Then, even though our history of infertility bad luck seemed to be changing before our eyes, it was still a time fraught with fear and difficulties. In many ways, those feelings made it almost identical to all previous steps along the way with IVF. Tuesday I had a continued discharge, a loss of my nausea symptoms and other changes that led me to presume our almost good news was about to become more like our usual downbeat IVF news. What Lies Beyond Cycle 10

One day on, things have been quiet here.

Tonight it is football finals – Australian Football League finals on the tv.

I think it is safe to say we are excited but extremely calm. Continue reading What Lies Beyond Cycle 10

Cycle 10 – Day 33: Day 10 Post 5 Day Transfer

There was a certain sense of things coming full circle.

This morning we were inside one of the small treatment rooms at the pathology centre to give blood for the crucial hcg test. Outside the door the pathology collection woman and a person we had earlier recognized as our first IVF nurse were having an interesting conversation about our first fertility specialist, Prof Doofus. It was him they spoke of in unflattering terms, as they clearly mentioned his name – several times. Continue reading Cycle 10 – Day 33: Day 10 Post 5 Day Transfer

Cycle 10 – Day 32: Day 9 Post 5 Day Transfer – Part Two

Wobbles had to be warned before we went in. No repeats of last time we were there for the results of a HCG, when he held onto me as we waited for the GP to tell us the results. He had shaken me so hard I started to feel ill. I could not focus on the quietly spoken doctor, as I was too distracted that Wobbles was about to go into some kind of fit. This led to my now infamous faux pas of thinking the Dr mistook Wobbles’ shakes as him having the DTs. When the GP warned about avoiding alcohol, he was speaking to me I realized after I had already said, ‘He doesn’t drink.’ Continue reading Cycle 10 – Day 32: Day 9 Post 5 Day Transfer – Part Two
